Junior Secondary School

The academic process followed in Don Bosco Science Academy Junior Secondary School (First – Third Year).

First Year (Basic 7 or Junior Secondary one)

This year is the introduction year. The transition from Primary School to Secondary school is a major change in a student’s life. So, they are led to prepare themselves to get set on their mark for the accelerated vigorous curricular and co-curricular programs of the Academy.

Different “hands-on” training seminars and workshops are conducted to teach the students to work independently and to derive the optimum benefit from the various curricular and co-curricular activities such as weekly essay writing, quiz and practical periods, mandatory sports, drill, skill development, Science Centre activities, guided projects, silent prep, etc.

A three-year language module in basic Latin is started in this first year as an optional subject. Knowledge of Latin will help them to learn scientific terms they would come across in the years ahead with understanding and pleasure. Basic Latin may also help the students enjoy the English language. “Achievement comes in reasonable steps” is the slogan of the first year.

The guidance counselor of the school has regular sessions with the first-year students to help them to map out the steps to reach the defined goals set by the students themselves.
